While he lied about never having met Edwards before, Cheney also said "Now, in my capacity as vice president, I am the president of Senate, the presiding officer. I'm up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they're in session."
But the official senate record shows that Cheney was president of the senate twice in four years, the same number of times Edwards served in that role.

LA Times has an article "Cheney and Edwards Have Met Before" which also notes:He does attend the GOP senators' weekly luncheons to discuss party strategy. But only Republicans attend, and Cheney usually breezes into the building, goes to the meeting, then leaves without hobnobbing with Democrats.
In fact, Cheney was teased by Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) for only associating with Republicans when, in an encounter on the Senate floor, Cheney cursed at Leahy.
(That was the "Go fuck yourself" moment, for which many Republicans were quick to defend and even laud Cheney, even though they were happy to condemn non-Republicans who use the f-word...)
By the way, video footage of another Cheney/Edwards meeting has been found.
Cheney: "Nun, kiel vicprezidento, mi estas prezidento de la senato, la prezidanta funkciulo."
Fakte, Cheney servis kiel senata prezidanta funkciulo nur dufoje, same al Edwards.
